Proposal No. 2 Fire Millage Renewal
Billings township · Gladwin County County · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
This millage proposal would allow the Township of Billings to renew its previously authorized levy of 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) on taxable property in the Township of Billings for the purpose of equipping, operating, and maintaining a Township Fire Department for a period ten years. The present authorized levy expires in 2026. Revenue from this millage will be disbursed to Billings Township for use by the Billings Township Fire Department. Shall the Township of Billings, Gladwin County, Michigan, renew the previously voted increase in the limitation on the total amount of general ad valorem taxes which may be imposed for all purposes upon real and personal property in the Township, as provided in Article 9, Section 6, of the Michigan Constitution of 1963, as amended, which last resulted in a levy of 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000.00) of the taxable valuation of such property as finally equalized, for a period of ten (10) years (2027 through 2036, inclusive), which levy would provide estimated revenues to the Township of $191,974.23 in its first year if approved and levied, for the purpose of raising revenues to fund firefighting apparatus and equipment for the Billings Township Fire Department.
