The question on your ballot

It is proposed that City Charter Section 5.04 be amended to provide for a limit in the City Council’s provision to budgeted police expenditures above the previous year’s budgeted police expenditures unless such an increase be approved by a majority of voters in a regular city-wide election in a ballot question pertaining to no other issue. Shall this proposed amendment to the Ypsilanti City Charter be adopted?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Ypsilanti voters are asked to amend Section 5.04 of the City Charter regarding the police budget. The amendment would limit City Council's provision for budgeted police expenditures above the previous year's budgeted police expenditures. An increase above that limit would need approval by a majority of voters in a regular city-wide election, on a ballot question that pertains to no other issue. A YES vote adopts the amendment, and a NO vote does not.
