Charter Amendment Proposal No. 1

Village of Milford · Oakland County County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Currently, the Village Charter requires contracts exceeding $2,000 to be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder through a competitive bidding process. Shall Section 11.2 be amended to remove the older fixed $2,000 threshold, authorize Village Council to establish purchasing and contracting limits by resolution, authorize the appointment of a Purchasing Agent, permit contracts to be awarded based on the bid determined to be most advantageous to the Village, and allow Village Council to authorize certain public improvements or Village work to be performed by Village personnel or departments when permitted by ordinance?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Village of Milford voters are asked to amend Section 11.2 of the Village Charter. It would remove the fixed $2,000 threshold for competitive bidding to the lowest responsible bidder. It would let the Village Council set purchasing and contracting limits by resolution and authorize a Purchasing Agent. Contracts could be awarded to the bid determined most advantageous to the Village, and the Council could allow certain work to be done by Village personnel when an ordinance permits. A YES vote approves these changes; a NO vote does not.
