Proposition B - Village Charter (appointed Clerk and Treasurer)
Village of Alpha · Iron County County · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
The Village Charter currently provides that the Clerk and Treasurer are elected offices, all officers must be Village electors, and the Treasurer may serve no more than two consecutive years. This amendment provides for the Clerk and Treasurer to be appointed by the President with Council consent, remove the Treasurer's term limit, and require only elected officers to be Village electors, allowing non-residents to serve in appointed positions. The change would occur through attrition as elected terms expire. No current term would be shortened. This amendment takes effect only if proposition A is approved. Shall the Charter be amended accordingly?
In plain language
A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.
Proposition B would change the Village of Alpha Charter so the Clerk and Treasurer are appointed by the President with Council consent instead of elected. It would remove the Treasurer's limit of no more than two consecutive years. Only elected officers would have to be Village electors, so non-residents could serve in appointed positions. The change would occur through attrition as elected terms expire, and no current term would be shortened. This amendment takes effect only if Proposition A is approved. A YES vote approves these changes; a NO vote keeps the current Charter.
