Oviedo: four-fifths council vote for rural-boundary annexations

Oviedo city · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Oviedo City Charter be amended to require that any ordinance annexing into the City limits any land lying within the Seminole County Charter’s Rural Area as it existed on July 4, 2026, must be approved by an affirmative vote of at least four (4) of the five (5) members of the City Council?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

This charter amendment covers land in the Seminole County Charter's Rural Area as that area existed on July 4, 2026. Any ordinance bringing such land into Oviedo's city limits would need a yes vote from at least four (4) of the five (5) City Council members. A YES vote adds this supermajority rule to the city charter. A NO vote leaves the charter's annexation section without this rule.
