South Miami Referendum 2South Miami cityCharter

Authorizing Online Publication Of Ordinance Notices As Permitted By Law

South Miami city · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

The Charter currently requires that notice of proposed ordinances be published in a newspaper of general circulation at least ten days before adoption. Shall the Charter be amended to allow publication of notice as permitted by Florida law, including on a publicly accessible website, when the cost is less than newspaper publication and the publication otherwise conforms to Florida and City law?

The South Miami charter now requires ordinance notices to be published in a newspaper. The notice must run at least ten days before adoption. This amendment would allow publication as Florida law permits. That includes a publicly accessible website, when it costs less than newspaper publication. A YES vote allows online notice. A NO vote keeps newspaper publication.
