Mayor's Duties: Committees, Intergovernmental Relations, And Annual Address

Miami Lakes town · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Town Charter be amended to revise the Mayor's powers and duties by: (1) clarifying that the Mayor's role representing the Town does not preclude administration and staff from communicating with other governmental entities; (2) requiring the Mayor to present an annual State of the Town address, with the Town's budget continuing through the regular budget adoption process; and (3) providing that the Council may establish or terminate Town Committees?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

The Miami Lakes charter would revise the Mayor's powers and duties. It would clarify that the Mayor's role representing the Town does not stop administration and staff from communicating with other governmental entities. The Mayor would present an annual State of the Town address. The budget would continue through the regular budget adoption process. The Council could establish or terminate Town committees. A YES vote adopts these changes, while a NO vote keeps the current powers and duties.
