Reduce Town Council from six seats to four

Miami Lakes town · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Town Charter be amended to reduce the number of Councilmembers from 6 Councilmembers to 4 Councilmembers by: (1) electing the Councilmember to Seat #5 in 2028 to a two-year term, after which Seat #5 shall be abolished in 2030; (2) abolishing Seat #6 upon expiration of its term in 2030, with no further election for Seat #6, and (3) providing for updating and modifying proportional Councilmember voting thresholds?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

The Miami Lakes charter would reduce the Town Council from six Councilmembers to four. Seat 5 would be elected to a two-year term in 2028, after which the seat would be abolished in 2030. Seat 6 would be abolished when its term expires in 2030, with no further election for that seat. The measure also updates the proportional voting thresholds for Councilmembers. A YES vote makes this reduction, while a NO vote keeps six seats.
