Leon: county ordinances prevail over conflicting city ordinances

Leon County · Leon County County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Leon County Charter be amended to provide that County ordinances adopted after January 1, 2027, shall prevail over conflicting municipal ordinances in the event of conflict, to the extent permitted by law, so that the County may establish regulations and standards on matters affecting residents in both incorporated and unincorporated areas?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

This Leon County charter amendment would let County ordinances adopted after January 1, 2027, win out over city ordinances that conflict with them, as far as the law allows. The ballot question says this would let the County set rules for matters that affect people both inside and outside city limits. A YES vote adopts this rule, while a NO vote keeps the current charter.
