Leon: advisory vote on county-city consolidation plan

Leon County · Leon County County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall Leon County pursue development of a plan to consolidate the governments of Leon County and the City of Tallahassee into a single consolidated government, under the Leon County government structure and leadership, through the constitutional process requiring a special act of the Florida Legislature and voter approval? This nonbinding referendum only gauges voter sentiment and does not create a consolidated government.

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

This advisory question asks whether Leon County should work on a plan to merge the county and the City of Tallahassee into one government. The merged government would use Leon County's structure and leaders. A merger would need a special act of the Florida Legislature and a vote of the people. This vote is nonbinding. It only measures how voters feel and does not create a merged government. A YES vote supports working on the plan, while a NO vote opposes it.
