Fort Myers Beach: council compensation committee every four years

Fort Myers Beach town · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Town Charter be amended to remove the process of annual adjustment of Town Council compensation based on budgeted staff compensation adjustments, and to provide that the Town Council may revise its compensation no more than every four years, after a 5-member Compensation Committee, appointed by the Town Council, makes recommendations for Town Council compensation adjustments, with adopted Town Council compensation adjustments taking effect after the next regular election?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Fort Myers Beach Town Council pay is now adjusted each year based on budgeted pay adjustments for town staff. This charter amendment would end that yearly process. Instead, the council could change its own pay no more than every four years, after a 5-member Compensation Committee appointed by the council makes recommendations. Any pay change the council adopts would take effect after the next regular election. A YES vote makes this change, while a NO vote keeps the yearly adjustment.
