Fort Myers Beach: appointed council member serves rest of vacated term

Fort Myers Beach town · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the Town of Fort Myers Beach Charter be amended to provide that the term of a Town Council seat filled by appointment by the Town Council shall be until the expiration of the full term of the vacated seat, rather than the next regular election?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

When the Fort Myers Beach Town Council appoints someone to fill a vacant council seat, that person now serves only until the next regular election. This charter amendment would let the appointee serve until the full term of the vacated seat ends. A YES vote lets appointed members serve the rest of the original term, while a NO vote keeps the rule that the appointment lasts until the next regular election.
