Hillsborough County · Hillsborough County County · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
Shall the Hillsborough County Charter be amended to increase the number of members of board of county commissioners from 7 to 9 members, with an increase to 11 members once the county has a population of at least 2,500,000, require all county commissioners to be elected to office from single-member districts by electors residing in each of those districts only?
In plain language
A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.
Hillsborough County voters are asked to change the county charter so the board of county commissioners grows from 7 to 9 members. The board would grow to 11 members once the county reaches a population of at least 2,500,000. The change also requires all county commissioners to be elected from single-member districts, with only electors who live in each district voting for that district's commissioner. A YES vote approves the larger board and district-only elections. A NO vote leaves the charter unchanged, so the board stays at 7 members.
