Charter Amendment No. 6Fort Lauderdale cityCharter

Fort Lauderdale: drop primary references and publication rule; manager titles

Fort Lauderdale city · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Should the City of Fort Lauderdale Charter be amended to delete references to primary elections, remove the requirement of two newspaper publications for public hearings and other types of notice, and distinguish the title of interim city manager, who is appointed in the event of the city manager's resignation or termination, from that of acting city manager, who is appointed during temporary absences of the city manager?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

This Fort Lauderdale charter amendment would delete references to primary elections. It would also end the rule that notices of public hearings and some other notices run in two newspaper publications. It would give two job titles separate meanings. An interim city manager would serve after the city manager resigns or is let go. An acting city manager would serve while the city manager is away for a short time. A YES vote adopts these changes, while a NO vote keeps the current wording.
