Deerfield Beach: four-fifths vote to change police or fire provider
Deerfield Beach city · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
Shall the Charter be amended to require that any future action by the City Commission to transition, transfer, contract out, consolidate, or otherwise assign, police or fire services from the existing provider to another governmental entity or agency, special district, or sheriff’s office, be approved by an affirmative vote of at least four-fifths (4/5) of the City Commission?
In plain language
A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.
Deerfield Beach voters are asked whether a future move of police or fire services should need a high vote. The move could be a transfer or contract to another provider. It could also be a consolidation with another governmental entity, agency, special district, or the sheriff's office. A YES vote requires at least four-fifths of the City Commission to approve any such future action. A NO vote means this four-fifths approval requirement is not added to the charter.
