Broward: 0.25 cent health care sales surtax for five years
Broward County · Broward County County · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
Shall Broward County fund (1) preventive heart and cancer tests, to the extent not covered by insurance, for qualified Broward County residents, (2) primary and preventive health care for indigent or medically poor residents, and (3) other health services, as described in a County health care plan, as periodically amended, by levying a one quarter of one percent sales surtax for five years subject to automatic repeal if a 1% infrastructure surtax is levied?
In plain language
A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.
Broward County would add a sales surtax of one quarter of one percent for five years to pay for health care. The money would pay for heart and cancer screening tests that insurance does not cover, for residents who qualify. It would also pay for basic and preventive care for poor residents, and other services in a County health care plan. The surtax would end on its own if a 1% infrastructure surtax is levied. A YES vote approves the surtax, while a NO vote rejects it.
