Broward: how the County Auditor is chosen

Broward County · Broward County County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Currently under the Broward County Charter, an independent board nominates one individual for County Auditor, and the County Commission ratifies that selection upon determining the nominee is qualified. Should the Charter be amended to provide that the independent board nominates three individuals, thereby enabling the County Commission to appoint as County Auditor the qualified nominee it determines is best able to serve in that position?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Under the Broward County Charter, an independent board nominates one person for County Auditor, and the County Commission ratifies that choice after finding the nominee qualified. This amendment would have the board nominate three people instead. The Commission would then appoint the qualified nominee it decides is best able to serve. A YES vote adopts the three-nominee process, while a NO vote keeps the single-nominee process.
