Palm Bay: fill late-term council vacancies by appointment

Palm Bay city · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall section 3.062 of the Palm Bay City Charter be amended to provide that in the event of a vacancy on the City Council, if there are 12 months or less remaining in the unexpired term the vacancy may be filled by appointment by the remaining members of the City Council, and if there are more than 12 months remaining in the unexpired term the vacancy shall be filled by election?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Palm Bay voters are asked whether Section 3.062 of the City Charter should change how City Council vacancies are filled. If 12 months or less remain in an unexpired term, the remaining council members could fill the vacancy by appointment. If more than 12 months remain, the vacancy would have to be filled by election. A YES vote adopts these rules, while a NO vote leaves the charter section unchanged.
