Lakewood charter: timing of initiative and referendum elections

Lakewood · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall Sections 13.1(d) and 13.2(e) of the Lakewood Home Rule Charter regarding initiative and referendum procedures be amended to extend the time frame for conducting regular or special elections on initiative ordinances and referendums to not less than sixty (60) days and not more than one hundred fifty (150) days after the final determination of petition sufficiency?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Lakewood Ballot Question 2J would change the charter’s timeline for elections on citizen initiatives and referendums. Those elections would be held no sooner than sixty days and no later than one hundred fifty days after the city makes its final finding that a petition has enough valid signatures. A YES vote adopts this time frame. A NO vote keeps the current timeline.
