Mt. Crested Butte Ballot Question 2A would raise the town’s short-term rental excise tax from 4.9% to 9.9% starting January 1, 2027. The increase would apply only to rentals of less than 30 days on properties the county assessor classifies as residential. It would raise up to $2,500,000 a year at first. The money would go to creating and keeping community housing. A YES vote approves the higher tax. A NO vote keeps the 4.9% rate.
