Monument Ballot Issue 2B would raise the town's use tax on construction and building materials and construction equipment from 2.0% to 3.5%. The rate would match the town's existing 3.5% sales tax on retail purchases. The increase would bring in $2,272,500 a year starting January 1, 2027, plus any additional amounts later. The tax is collected when a building permit or right-of-way permit is requested. All revenue would be spent on capital projects, including streets, roads, bridges, sidewalks, and stormwater improvements. A YES vote approves the higher use tax. A NO vote keeps the 2.0% rate.
