In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Paonia Ballot Issue 2A would remove the town’s occupational tax of $5.00 per sales transaction and adopt a 5% sales tax on retail and medical marijuana, marijuana products and accessories. The question says town taxes would decrease by up to $40,000.00 a year in 2027. The new tax would start once the town board adopts local rules, and the money could go to any lawful town purpose. A YES vote approves this change. A NO vote keeps the current tax.
