Louisville charter amendment adding staff review of initiated measures

Louisville · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the City of Louisville Home Rule Charter be amended to require proponents of an initiated ordinance or Charter amendment to first submit the text of the initiated measure to the City Manager for review and comment at a public meeting, subject to the limitation that City staff shall not have the authority to require any amendment, modification, or other alteration to the text of the proposed measure, or to impose additional procedural requirements on the proponent?

In plain language

A VoterDecoder summary of the official measure text.

Louisville Question 2G would require proponents of an initiated ordinance or charter amendment to submit the text to the City Manager. The City Manager would review and comment on the text at a public meeting. City staff could not require any change to the text of the proposed measure. Staff also could not add other procedural requirements for proponents. A YES vote adds this review step. A NO vote does not add it.
