Measure H: MEASURE H
City of Mount Shasta · Siskiyou County · November 3, 2026
The question on your ballot
To prevent cuts to its Police and Fire Departments, maintain public safety, prevent and protect against wildfires, provide rapid responses to 911 emergencies, add needed police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, and for general government use, shall the City of Mount Shasta adopt an ordinance establishing a one cent sales (transactions and use) tax, providing approximately $1.5m annually until ended by voters, with strict accountability, annual audits, citizen oversight, and all funds legally required to stay in Mount Shasta?
In plain language
Measure H would create a new 1% sales tax in the City of Mount Shasta. A YES vote adds the tax to fund police and fire services. It would also pay for wildfire prevention and 911 emergency response. It would help hire more officers, firefighters, and paramedics. Some money would go to general government use. A NO vote means the tax is not added. The tax would continue until voters end it, with annual audits and citizen oversight.
Fiscal impact
The sales tax is expected to raise about $1.5 million a year.
