Impartial analysis

City Attorney’s Impartial Analysis of Measure ”__” Measure “__” was placed on the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election ballot by a unanimous vote of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council. If approved by a majority of voters, this Measure will increase the Transient Occupancy Tax or “TOT” (paid only by hotel/motel guests) from 10% to 13% and provide an additional $2,200,000 annually to the City’s General Fund for use toward general City services, including but not limited to public safety, emergency preparedness and response, street maintenance, and wildfire mitigation. The TOT is a general tax paid only by guests staying at hotels and motels in Rancho Palos Verdes for 30 days or less. All revenue generated by this Measure would be locally controlled by the City and subject to annual audits and funding disclosures. Your YES vote means you approve of the proposed increase of the City’s TOT from 10% to 13%. Your NO vote means you disapprove of the proposed increase to the City’s TOT at this time. This Measure would take effect only if a majority of those registered Rancho Palos Verdes voters voting on Measure “__” casts a “Yes” vote at the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election.
