Measure E: PROPOSED COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT. COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES ETHICS COMMISSION AND COMMUNITY INVESTMENT BUDGET ALLOCATION CHARTER AMENDMENT.

Los Angeles County · Los Angeles County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

Shall the measure amending the Los Angeles County Charter to provide greater independence and structure for the County of Los Angeles Ethics Commission, Office of Ethic s Compliance, and Ethics Compliance Officer, including appointment processes, qualifications, term, duties and responsibilities, and to continue uninterrupted the County's commitment to community investment and alternatives to incarceration, as specified in the charter amendment ordinance, be adopted?

In plain language

Measure E would change the LA County Charter. It affects the county's Ethics Commission. A YES vote gives the Commission more independence. This also covers the Office of Ethics Compliance. It covers the Ethics Compliance Officer too. It changes how they are appointed. It sets their needed skills and term lengths. It also spells out their duties. It would keep funding two things without a break. Those are community investment and options besides jail. A NO vote keeps the Charter as is. No change happens under a NO vote.
