Delano: two-year mayoral term

City of Delano · Kern County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

TWO YEAR TERM OF ELECTIVE OFFICE OF MAYOR. Shall the term of office of mayor be two years?

In plain language

Measure L asks if Delano's elected mayor should serve a two-year term. It is one of three measures about an elected mayor. Measure L would amend the Delano Municipal Code to establish an elected mayor who serves a two-year term, along with four elected councilmembers who each serve a four-year term. The elected mayor would be the presiding officer of the city council. At the November 2028 general municipal election, one of the council seats being filled would be designated as the office of mayor. A YES vote sets a two-year term for an elected mayor. A NO vote means the mayor's term would not be set at two years. It needs more than half of the votes to pass.
