Delano: elective office of Mayor

City of Delano · Kern County · November 3, 2026

The question on your ballot

ELECTIVE OFFICE OF MAYOR. Shall the electors elect a mayor and four city council members? A “Yes” vote means the citizens directly elect the mayor; a “No” vote continues the practice that the council chooses one of its number to preside as Mayor on an annual basis.

In plain language

Measure K asks if Delano voters should directly elect a mayor. Today, the City Council picks one of its own members to serve as Mayor each year. If this measure passes, voters would elect a mayor and four city council members. A YES vote means voters directly elect the mayor. A NO vote keeps the current way, where the council chooses one of its members to serve as Mayor each year.
