David L. DemoIncumbent
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Corning · Incumbent
Dave Demo is a native of Corning who spent his career in car sales before retiring. He has volunteered as a Corning firefighter for 45 years and has coached youth sports for most of his adult life. He has also taken part in the fire department's Christmas Basket program and other community fundraisers.
Positions in brief
Demo has emphasized extending city infrastructure and services to spur business development, pursuing corridor growth along Highway 99W, and keeping the city budget on a fiscally responsible footing as gas-tax revenue declines.
In a 2022 interview about his council priorities, Demo said he wanted to extend city services and infrastructure across Interstate 5 to open up new areas for business development, and to pursue development along the Highway 99W corridor to attract new businesses to Corning. He also pointed to youth engagement as a priority, citing hope for the city's new Recreation Center/Plaza to give young people something to do. On the budget, he emphasized responsible spending and flagged the city's exposure to declining state gas-tax revenue as California promotes electric vehicles, saying the city would need to find alternative revenue sources over time.
