Eric Vazquez
Candidate for City Council Member, Petaluma, District 3 · Affordable Housing Advocate
Eric Vazquez is a lifelong Petaluma resident who grew up on the city's Eastside, the son of immigrants who came to Petaluma seeking, in his words, "a place to call home." His family experienced financial hardship during the 2008 recession when his father was unemployed for an extended period, nearly costing them their home. He holds a political science degree from UC Berkeley, works at EAH Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing organization, and serves on Petaluma's Transit Advisory Committee and the Sonoma County Democratic Party Central Committee.
Positions in brief
Vazquez's platform centers on housing affordability, economic security for working families, and environmental protection.
Vazquez says many of his friends have been "priced out of the city we grew up in" and wants to see families able to "age with dignity and stay for generations, not just a few years." He also commits to "protect the air, water, and land that make this place worth staying in," and describes his goal as building "a Petaluma that works for everyone."
