Erik Poicon
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Mountain View · Library Outreach Specalist
Erik Poicon is a community outreach specialist for the Santa Clara County Library District and a member of Mountain View's Human Relations Commission. He has worked with the 2020 Census and the Community Service Agency advocating for immigrants and people experiencing homelessness, and has said he has personal experience with homelessness.
Positions in brief
He centers his campaign on housing affordability, public safety, and environmental issues, favoring stronger tenant protections and a higher affordable-housing set-aside from market-rate developers.
Poicon has said Mountain View has a workable blueprint for adding housing but that even below-market-rate units remain unaffordable for many households, and has called for a bigger focus on homes for very-low-income families and a higher required affordable set-aside than the current 15%. He supports a storefront vacancy tax, opposes an office cap, and opposes paid downtown parking. On public safety, he has proposed protected bike lanes on several major corridors.
