David BrownIncumbent
Candidate for Mayor, Solvang · Mayor, City Of Solvang
David Brown is a licensed real estate and mortgage broker active with local nonprofit groups including the Solvang Vikings, the Rotary Club of Los Olivos, and the Los Padres Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He developed a mobile app promoting local tourism businesses for a monthly fee, which a fellow council member said could pose a conflict of interest given its fee structure. Following the controversy, in June 2026 the city council expanded its ethics code to require regular financial-interest disclosures from members.
Positions in brief
His stated priorities include improving downtown traffic flow and pedestrian safety during peak tourism periods, adding family and community entertainment facilities, and pursuing the city's boundary annexation process.
News coverage reports Brown wants to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety downtown during peak tourism days, bring facilities such as a bowling alley, movie theater, splash pad, and sports fields to the city, and has described a pending annexation as a "preemptive strike" to prepare for state housing mandates and to bring the city's wastewater treatment plant inside city limits.
