Monica Solorzano
Candidate for City Council Member, Carpinteria, District 1 · City Council Member District 1
Monica Solorzano is Vice Mayor of Carpinteria. She leads for District 1. She has worked as a policy analyst at UC Santa Barbara for 16 years. She has served on the city council since 2022. She leads the parent group at Aliso Elementary School. She is also a board member of two local nonprofits.
Positions in brief
She has focused on working with the community. She also backs careful growth, more housing, and help for local shops.
Solorzano says housing is hard to talk about. There is little room to build in Carpinteria. She says getting the housing people want will take hard choices. She wants both new stores and old, long-loved shops to do well together. She says she tries to meet people where they are.
