Adam Rak
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), San Carlos · San Carlos City Councilmember
Adam Rak was first elected to the San Carlos City Council in 2018 and reelected in 2022. He has served as the city's vice mayor.
Positions in brief
Rak's platform emphasizes building more affordable housing, including through inclusionary zoning, and studying parts of Old County Road and East San Carlos Avenue for future transit-oriented, higher-density development.
Rak has said housing is a critical statewide issue that San Carlos is not exempt from, and has pushed for more housing and more affordable housing, including inclusionary zoning requirements on new development. He helped the city purchase an acre of land on El Camino Real to create 90 additional units of affordable housing. He has also called for reining in commercial development and, alongside councilmember Sara McDowell, taking a holistic approach to growth on the city's east side, while identifying stretches of Old County Road and East San Carlos Avenue as areas to study for future transit-oriented, higher-density housing.
