Judith A. Hasko
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Portola Valley · Town Council Member
Judith Hasko has practiced as an attorney for 30 years, guiding life sciences companies through long-term business collaborations. Before joining elected office, she spent 12 years volunteering for the town of Portola Valley, including service on the Trails and Paths Committee, the Portola Road Corridor Plan Task Force, the 2013 Ad Hoc Affordable Housing Committee, and an ad hoc committee on housing on town-owned property. She served eight years on the Planning Commission starting in 2014. Hasko was elected to the Portola Valley Town Council in 2022, served as vice mayor in 2024, and served as mayor in 2025.
Positions in brief
Hasko's focus is on shoring up Portola Valley's finances responsibly, favoring a new town revenue measure over immediate staff bonuses, and pursuing options like charter-city status, an updated utility users' tax, and parking meters.
Facing a projected $700,000 annual structural deficit, Hasko has said she does not feel comfortable approving staff merit raises until the town passes a new revenue ballot measure, while still supporting a roughly 2.5% cost-of-living raise for employees. She has joined fellow council members in prioritizing a push toward charter-city status and a modified utility users' tax as ways to raise revenue, and has expressed support for installing parking meters as an additional revenue source. Any of these options would need voter approval on the November 2026 ballot.
