Michael Rios
Candidate for City Council Member, Ontario, District 3 · Software Engineer
Michael Rios is a lifelong Ontario resident and Chaffey High School graduate who has worked as a software engineer for more than 13 years. Two years ago he founded Citizens4Ontario, a group providing fact-based budget and policy updates to residents, and he has worked with nonprofits on civic engagement. He and his family relocated to Ontario Ranch, within the newly formed District 3.
Rios's campaign centers on Ontario's air quality and the pace of warehouse development, arguing the city should stop unchecked warehouse growth that brings truck traffic and emissions into neighborhoods. He opposes further tax increases and what he calls reckless spending or corporate giveaways, and calls for making transparency and accountability structural parts of local government, with city resources directed toward community well-being, local jobs, and safe neighborhoods rather than corporate interests.
