David PolivyIncumbent
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Truckee · Incumbent
Dave Polivy has served on the Truckee Town Council since 2018. He co-owns a local outdoor gear store, Tahoe Mountain Sports. Before that, he worked as a program manager for a group that focused on the environment, the economy, and local needs. He sits on the boards of several nonprofit groups, including one for the outdoor gear industry. He was reelected to the council in 2022.
Positions in brief
Polivy wants to finish projects he says are still in progress. He wants steady growth in tourism, more spending on wildfire and snow removal, and a plan to grow jobs beyond tourism.
Polivy says he first ran for council because he wanted a say in how his town grows. Land-use choices shape a town's feel. He is running again to finish work he says is still in progress. On tourism, he backs targeted marketing paired with spending on upkeep. He notes that about a fifth of the tourism agency's budget goes to things like snow removal and fire prevention. On wildfire and emergency planning, he points to the town raising its cash reserves and adding a second emergency manager. On the environment, he says the town's job is to be a strong partner, not to solve every problem alone. On jobs, he wants a full plan for economic growth. He says it should help local businesses and create more year-round work.
