Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Truckee · Incumbent
Anna Klovstad has served on the Truckee Town Council since 2018. She has served two terms as Mayor. She moved to Truckee in 1997 with her husband, and their two children grew up there. She works for the local school district. She manages school buildings, upkeep, and energy use. She has a college degree in design from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She is also a certified construction manager and a certified energy manager. Under her watch, the town set up new energy and climate programs, including a group called the Climate Transformation Alliance.
Positions in brief
Klovstad points to Truckee's Climate Action Plan and wildfire work as her top wins. She backs steady steps on tourism rules, clean energy, and downtown growth.
Klovstad points to the town's Climate Action Plan as a top success. Steps include a plastic bottle ban, a fee on throwaway forks and cups, and a program to cut down bright outdoor lights. She likes to use rewards instead of penalties when asking people to go green. On wildfire, she backs steady brush clearing along roads and trails. She says the town made fire and emergency planning a full-time, year-round job. On short-term rentals, she points to the town's 2020 rule as a fair balance between tourism and neighborhood life. She is excited about a new study to help turn a downtown street into a more walkable place to shop and eat.
