Daniel Muñoz
Candidate for Mayor, Salinas · Artist
Daniel Muñoz, who also performs locally as a musician under the name Cal Paradox, is a construction worker from Salinas with more than 20 years of experience in the trade. Born and raised in Salinas, he has been active in city life for years, participating in community events and regularly attending city council meetings. He says he wants to bring a working-class perspective to city government and has cited concern over wasted city money as his main motivation for getting involved.
Positions in brief
Muñoz wants the agricultural industry to help pay for road and infrastructure repairs, supports pesticide reform, favors more housing solutions for unhoused residents, and says he wants to cut wasteful city spending.
Muñoz's central concern is what he describes as wasted city money, which he says would be his first priority to address. On infrastructure, he wants citywide improvements to roads and sidewalks. He supports pesticide reform and wants the agricultural sector, whose heavy trucks he says contribute to road damage, to pay a fairer share toward fixing local streets and infrastructure, arguing this would raise new revenue without increasing costs for working families. He also calls for better housing solutions for Salinas's unhoused residents. Muñoz has said he wants Salinas to feel like "home" within a decade and wants to be remembered for "fighting for Salinas."
