Lakota Mikulicich
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Mammoth Lakes
Lakota Mikulicich was born and raised in the Eastern Sierra and graduated from Bishop High School. She attended an international college in Nairobi, Kenya, majoring in journalism, and did humanitarian aid work before returning to the Eastern Sierra in 2019. She has worked in various roles for Mammoth Mountain and for Nomadness Rentals, and now owns a small housekeeping and property-management business; she also holds a California real estate license. Her family lost their home in the 2015 Round Fire near Swall Meadows.
Positions in brief
Mikulicich's platform centers on workforce housing, wildfire prevention, small-business support, and managing human-bear conflicts in town.
Mikulicich says her work in the local rental-housing and service industry gives her direct insight into the housing pressures facing Mammoth Lakes' workforce, and she supports expanding housing options for the area's so-called 'missing middle' workers. She backs continued wildfire-prevention efforts, a priority she describes as personal after her family lost its home in the 2015 Round Fire. She has also called for a dedicated wildlife-specialist position to help the town manage bear activity, and says she wants to support local small businesses.
