Jason Elwell
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Mammoth Lakes
Jason Elwell has worked for Mammoth Mountain for six years, most recently as a lead vacation specialist with the resort's 1-800-MAMMOTH reservations line. He is also a licensed cosmetologist with a booth at Tangled Web salon in Mammoth Lakes, and he is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree online.
Positions in brief
Elwell's platform centers on affordable housing and corporate accountability, along with opposition to expanded police surveillance technology in town.
Elwell says cuts tied to the Trump administration's federal downsizing efforts (DOGE) have reduced local affordable-housing funding and driven up rents, and he wants companies doing business in Mammoth Lakes held accountable for contributing to housing solutions. He has also criticized the town's contract with Flock Safety, the automated license-plate-reading camera company, arguing it invades residents' privacy.
