Robin Leler
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Willits · TEACHER
Robin Leler is a substitute teacher for Willits Unified School District, with more than 30 years of experience teaching in local public schools. She volunteers with the Sierra Club and Willits Community Theatre, and has been an active civic voice in Willits, publishing letters in local newspapers on topics such as public transit, tourism, government transparency, water quality, and environmental conservation. In 2015 she co-authored a letter addressing drinking-water violations in Willits and advocating for granular-activated-charcoal filtration. She has run for Willits City Council in prior elections, most recently losing narrowly to Council Member Matthew Alaniz, and has been endorsed by the Mendocino Women's Political Coalition.
Positions in brief
Leler's priorities center on water safety and sustainability, expanding family-friendly housing, and government accountability, including scrutiny of the city's use of outside contractors.
Leler has long focused on the city's water system, co-authoring a 2015 letter about drinking-water violations and pushing for granular-activated-charcoal filtration to address contamination concerns; she continues to name water sustainability as a priority. On housing, she has said she wants to see more family-friendly housing options developed in Willits. On government accountability, she raised concerns in November 2025 about what she described as 'back room irregularities' in council decision-making, and has questioned the city's use of certain outside contractors. She has also said she supports returning the Willits Farmers Market to City Park. Leler describes her approach as seeking out 'people on all sides of an issue' and asking questions 'until everyone has been heard and a sharing understanding emerges.'
