Talia Friedman is a 15-year resident of Fairfax who was appointed Town Treasurer in February 2025 after the council voted to fill a vacancy left by the previous treasurer's resignation. She has chaired the Membership Committee of the West Point Inn Association since 2021, overseeing dues collection and financial operations, and worked as a Client Success Manager at Primary.Health from 2021 to 2023, a role that included budget oversight and financial planning. She has volunteered with the PTA at Manor and White Hill schools, helped run the Fairfax Festival, and volunteers at the local Food Pantry.

Positions in brief

As a largely ceremonial post with limited statutory duties, Friedman's role centers on financial reporting; she has described bringing a public-service mindset and financial-management background to the job.

In her application for the treasurer appointment, Friedman wrote that she has 'a strong public service mindset and history of working with governmental and nonprofit organizations reflecting my commitment to community engagement,' and cited her experience managing a $1.1 million annual budget as Treasurer of the YES Foundation from 2015 to 2018. She also pointed to her role chairing the West Point Inn Association's Membership Committee, which involves overseeing dues collection and financial communications, and her project-management experience at Primary.Health from 2021 to 2023, which involved budget oversight and financial planning.
