Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Clearlake · Incumbent
Russell (Russ) Cremer is a lifelong Lake County resident who grew up in Lower Lake. He and his wife Joan, married in 1971, spent decades working in Sacramento and elsewhere in Northern California before retiring and returning to Clearlake in 2003. He served on the Lake County Fire Protection District board, was appointed to Clearlake's Planning Commission in 2016, and was appointed to the City Council in 2018. He has also served as mayor. During his tenure, city staff have secured tens of millions of dollars in grant funding for code enforcement, parks, City Hall, and public art, and nearly half of Clearlake's public roads have been repaved using local Measure V tax dollars. He has pushed for redeveloping the city's airport to attract investment and jobs, and for a planned youth sports complex in Burns Valley.
Positions in brief
Cremer highlights infrastructure investment funded by Measure V and grant dollars, plus economic development projects like airport redevelopment and a planned youth sports complex.
Cremer points to a record of results from his time in office: since 2018, roughly half of Clearlake's public roads have been repaved using local Measure V tax revenue, and city staff have secured more than $66 million in additional grant funding that has gone toward code enforcement, parks, City Hall improvements, and public art. Looking ahead, he has prioritized redeveloping the city's airport to draw investment and jobs, along with building a youth sports complex in Burns Valley to replace aging facilities and draw tourism.
