Diana NuricumboIncumbent
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Calexico · Incumbent
Diana Nuricumbo owns and operates several restaurants and event centers in Calexico, drawing on more than 20 years of business experience. She holds a bachelor's degree in international business and a master's degree in business administration. She first won office in a December 2024 special election to fill a council vacancy and is now seeking a full four-year term. She has advocated directly with the state water board for funding for the city's New River project, arguing Calexico's need was as great as San Diego's for its Tijuana River initiatives.
Positions in brief
Nuricumbo's platform centers on easing border-related traffic congestion downtown and making city government more efficient.
Nuricumbo's central focus is a Border Circulation Plan to redirect border-crossing traffic away from Imperial Avenue, which she says causes bottlenecks on Second Street that hurt local businesses. She also wants internal restructuring of city departments, saying staffing levels are uneven across departments and need fixing regardless of which officials are in charge. She points to her advocacy for state funding of the city's New River water-quality project as a model for how she pushes for the city's fair share of regional resources.
