Shannon Shaw
Candidate for City Council Member, Oakley, District 4
Shannon Shaw works as a property manager at a HUD-funded senior housing facility in Pittsburg and is a licensed real estate agent; she previously worked as a tax-credit specialist at Stoneman Village. She served as an Oakley Planning Commissioner from 2021 to 2022, was elected to the Oakley City Council in 2022, became vice mayor in 2023, and was sworn in as mayor in December 2024. She is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pittsburg and the Oakley Rotary Club, and describes herself as a police wife and police mom.
Positions in brief
As mayor, Shaw has emphasized public-safety infrastructure, road widening projects, local economic development, senior and mental-health services, and city-hall technology upgrades.
Shaw's stated 2025 goals included locating a new police substation to accommodate the growing department, continuing to widen East Cypress Road and Laurel Road for traffic flow and safety, fostering local business expansion including the upcoming Shops at Laurel Fields, and upgrading City Hall technology and the city website to improve resident access to information. She also said she wants to expand mental-health counseling and community-based programs in far east county and transition senior programming to city-run services with expanded lunch programs, an area outside the city's usual role since such health and social services are typically delivered by the county.
