Michael J. Mandy
Candidate for City Clerk, Antioch
Michael J. Mandy is an AT&T premises technician and a 31-year resident of Antioch who has owned and operated a business in the city; his wife has run a medical practice on Lone Tree Way for more than a decade. In September 2025 the Antioch City Council appointed him, on a 4-1 vote, to serve as interim City Clerk following the abrupt departure of the elected clerk, Melissa Rhodes. He has said his resume does not include prior government experience but that he is meticulous with paperwork and record-keeping.
Positions in brief
Mandy emphasizes impartiality, strict compliance with the Brown Act, and careful recordkeeping as central to the City Clerk's role, along with serving as a trustworthy link between residents and city government.
Mandy has said the City Clerk position extends beyond administrative tasks and requires an impartial, dedicated individual who ensures compliance with the state's open-meeting law, keeps meticulous records, and manages public meetings fairly. He has framed the role as a bridge between residents and city government, aimed at building public trust, and has expressed hope that clear communication from the office can help residents feel proud of Antioch.
