Juana Rudati
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Orinda · Physicist/Mother
Juana Rudati is a physicist with degrees in Physics and Mathematics from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Physics. She has lived in Orinda for more than 15 years and has worked as a substitute teacher in the town's public schools. She says her career leading complex scientific and engineering teams has taught her that good decisions come from testing assumptions and following the evidence.
In her official candidate statement filed with the City of Orinda, Rudati says facts and evidence should guide city decisions. She wants to improve safety for students who walk and bike to school and ensure the town's road network supports both daily travel and safe evacuation during emergencies. She also says she cares about protecting Orinda's creeks and expanding access to natural open space. On government process, she wants to make City Hall more transparent by expanding live remote access and recordings to all public city meetings, not just City Council, and by creating regular opportunities to hear directly from residents.
