Dion Bailey
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Hercules · Councilmember
Dion Bailey is a Bay Area native who has lived in Hercules since 1993. First elected to the Hercules City Council in November 2018, he serves on the council. He chairs the Hercules Traffic and Public Safety Subcommittee and the Economic Development Subcommittee, and represents Hercules on the West Contra Costa Transit Authority (WestCAT) Board of Directors and the Marin Clean Energy (MCE) Board of Directors, and serves as an alternate on the West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee (WCCTAC). During his time on the council he voted to approve the city's 'All-Electric' building ordinance, funding to restore Hercules' Fourth of July fireworks after a decade-long absence, and traffic-safety improvements in high-need areas of the city.
Positions in brief
Bailey has emphasized finishing the Hercules Waterfront redevelopment, clean-energy building standards, and traffic-safety investment across the city.
Bailey points to his council record: support for completing the Hercules Waterfront Master Plan as a high-density, walkable, transit-oriented redevelopment anchored by a planned Regional Intermodal Transit Center; his vote for the city's 'All-Electric' ordinance requiring new construction to use electric rather than gas systems; and votes to fund traffic-safety improvements in high-need areas as well as to restore the city's Fourth of July fireworks show after a decade-long gap.
