Candidate for U.S. Representative, Congressional District 29
Angélica María Dueñas was born and raised in the East San Fernando Valley. A mother of five, she is a longtime community organizer and activist. She holds a BA in Political Science-Public Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Master's in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University, and graduated from Polytechnic High School and LA Valley College. This is her third campaign for a Los Angeles-area U.S. House seat; she previously ran in the 2022 and 2024 election cycles.
Positions in brief
Dueñas campaigns on Medicare for All, abolishing ICE and creating a path to legal status for immigrants, clean energy, taxing billionaires' stock-backed loans as income, housing as a fundamental right, and stronger labor protections including a living minimum wage.
Her campaign site describes support for Medicare for All and a single-payer healthcare system; an immigration platform of legal status for all, DREAM Act citizenship, expanded work-visa programs, healthcare access and asylum protections, plus abolishing ICE; clean energy investment to lower costs and create local jobs; closing what she calls 'Billionaire Loopholes' by taxing stock-backed loans as income; treating housing as a fundamental right while fighting gentrification and homelessness; and protecting the right to unionize, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, and defending collective bargaining.
